Unquenchable

“If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED. “If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than, having your two feet, to be cast into hell, where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED. If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into hell, where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED” Mark 9:43-48

Jesus says our holiness is of paramount importance. God gave us hands, feet and eyes to worshp Him. Hand to do His work, feet to follow in His footsteps, and eyes to appreciate His creation. Two of each indicate God’s ample provision. (He has given us everything we need for life and godliness) Jesus warns that if these God-given resources cause me to stumble and fall out of fellowship with Him, they are no longer valuable… and so I should remove them from my life.

Wow. What a warning and reminder of the proper and blessed place of what God has made me to be and the resources He has placed in my life.

Lord Jesus, I am sorry for taking for granted and using what was intended for holiness and Your glory for common or unholy purposes. May I shine today, more brightly than ever, with all the intellect, charisma, physical ability, intuitiveness, and energy You have given me.
