He Gets Us

I’ve seen some recent TV commercials about Jesus (one on the Super Bowl last year) with the caption at the end “He Gets Us” In moments of great strife, trial and temptation- I’ve wondered, ‘does God know what I am going through’? I mean, does He really understand? Theologically, I get that He is ‘all-knowing’. But, now I realize that experientially- He understands as well. Our Savior and Lord, Jesus experience in the wilderness demonstrates that He has personal knowledge of temptation. Temptations originate from our own lusts and desires with the amplification of them by the enemy of our soul. Jesus passed each test and temptation without sin. He has become our sympathetic High Priest who understands! I guess its true, He Gets Us! Join me in a daily reading plan: www.bible.com/reading-plans/13233-bibleproject-new-testament-in-one-year

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after He had fasted for forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:1-4 NASB

How do I face the temptations of life? How does the Word of God inform me and protect me?

God, as this day begins- I thank You for Jesus’ example and the blessing of the Bible. How wonderful it is to know that You made me and understand me completely. May I walk in righteousness today, overcoming all temptations by relying upon Your Holy Word. I pause to pray for those in my circle of influence who are struggling and hurting. Bless them by Your presence and power. I look forward to enjoying the afternoon with my lovely wife.
