It’s not good people who go to heaven or enter the kingdom of God, its forgiven people. This is really great news because none of us are actually good. But all of us can be forgiven! Jesus warned the religious leaders about the show they put on… as opposed to having a heartfelt repentance. He said those who repent (turn from their ways to God’s ways) would enter the kingdom ahead of them. Sometimes I have to make sure I am standing in the right line… the one where repentant and redeemed people are and not be tempted to stand in a line where I try to make myself look better than I am. God knows the difference.
Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you. Matthew 21:31b NASB
How does God’s love and forgiveness continue to motivate me to love and live for Him? Is there any area of my life not consistent with God’s will or His ways?
God, as this day begins- I am so grateful that You rescued me from a life of sin and shame and outward focus. I have people struggling with deep pain, fear and hurt. Would you heal sweet Maria’s eyesight miraculously. Give her a solution where doctors can find none. Also for Kathleen and Victor- open their communication, provide a way to express their love from a proper distance, protect their business. Oh, I find myself as one beggar telling other beggars where I have found bread. It is with You, the Bread of Life, Jesus. May my brothers, family, friends all come to You in a personal way. There is still time to get in line with the prostitutes.
