Offended

Have you ever felt discounted, dismissed or passed over? There is a saying that “familiarity breeds contempt.” Sometimes the people closest to us cannot perceive the work God is doing in our life. That was true with Jesus. Even His own family were offended at His ministry. The result was the blessings (and miracles) of God were limited. Sometimes we long for God to work in our midst but complain inwardly at how or who He works through. Instead, we ought to glory in God and celebrate whomever He raises up.

Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are His sisters not here with us?” And they took offense at Him. Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and among his own relatives, and in his own household.” And He could not do any miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He was amazed at their unbelief. Mark 5:4-6 NASB

How has God moved in and through my life to bring blessings to others? Have I in any way limited the blessings of God because I was offended at others?

God, as this day begins- I thank you for the grandchildren who are visiting. May You continue to draw each close and reveal Your plan for their lives at an early age. How wonderful that the “cousins” enjoy each other so much. May I be one who celebrates others as they shine for the cause of Christ.
