My son and daughter in law dropped the grandkids off last Saturday, so they could go to breakfast and set goals for the new year together. When a brand new year starts we often make an assessment of our lives. We look back and evaluate the prior year. We look ahead and think about fitness and career goals, financial goals, etc. I think its far more important to set spiritual goals related to who God wants us to become and how we would express His love in a cruel, dark and lost world. The daily reading of the New Testament is one goal I have set. I will have the advantage of short explanatory videos from the Bible Project to help with insight and understanding. How has the Bible changed my attitudes, passions, and actions? What areas of my life does God intend to develop this year?
God, as this day begins- I am grateful for the example and teachings of Jesus, the Messiah and coming King. I open myself up to be transformed daily this year into a reflection of His character displayed and reflected in me. May I become more and more like Him in word, thought and deed. Happy New Year!
