Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word;
For my eyes have seen Your salvation,
Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES,
And the glory of Your people Israel.” Luke 2:29-32
Simeon wanted to see God’s Savior before he died and he did! Jesus was brought as an infant into the temple by his mother and Joseph. Simeon felt like he could now die in peace, having seen Jesus. In the same way, if we “see” Jesus, accept the Savior, we find peace with God.
I will never forget the relief and peace I felt when finally I received Christ and understood my sins are forever forgiven. It produced a wonder and amazement that remains today.
Lord Jesus, you are a light to this Gentile and a glory to your people Israel.
