The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU,
WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY;
THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS,
‘MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD,
MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.'”
John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins…
“I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
As important as John’s baptism was, what would happen as to Jesus followers was even more significant. They would be filled with the Holy Spirit of God Himself. Imgaine how incredible this idea was to them. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would not just dwell with them in tents, but be in them, and they in Him.
The same is true for me. God has promised to lead, guide and speak to me through His Holy Spirit who dwells in me. Amazing! Have you ever received a thought or passion beyond your own? I do!
God, what a new life you have given me. I love it! Today would you encourage me, direct me, and give me every word to speak. And help me be funny at my Comedy Class graduation. Amen.
