Faithful through the Night

“And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, “Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.” Matthew 26:75

Just as Jesus said, Peter denied knowing Him. Fear must have gripped him. Only hours before had he made a bold commitment to follow Jesus to the death. Peter would be restored and ultimately keep that vow. History records that Peter was crucified upside down because of his preaching of the gospel.

Have I ever denied Him? Yes, in subtle ways, perhaps less overt. His restoration and forgiveness for this waffling follower have made me more resolute over the years. I would humbly, yet confidently declare that I am comitted to Him, even to death. After all, I truly believe He died for me was raised for my justification.

Lord Jesus, may I be found faithful in your service.
