“And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach, and to have authority to cast out the demons.” Mark 3:13-15
Jesus chose his disciples, mostly from his hometown in Galilee. He had been calling them along the way as He began his preaching and healing ministry. Now he has them join Him and he gives them authority.
What authority have I received as His follower? Yes, I am called to preach and set people free from demons. As a pastor, I can perform marriages and other sacradotal duties. My greater privilege is to simply be with Him in this journey and part of Him mission to seek and save the lost.
Lord, thank you for the calling you have on my life.
