“And they crucified Him, and divided up His garments among themselves, casting lots for them to decide what each man should take.” Mark 15:24
One of the last interactions with Jesus before his death is the Romans soldiers gambling for his last earthly possessions, his clothes. Takers! That what we are. Giver. That’s what He is. How perfectly this sums up the human condition. Our only hope is to be born-again in Him.
Is the measure of my life – accumulation or donation? When its all said and done, will I have followed Jesus example or the Roman soldiers?
Lord, you said the greatest love we could ever know is that “a man lay down his life for his friends”. That’s quite a gift. Help me, even bit by bit, demonstrate Your great love by giving.
