For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:6
The famous Ten Commandments are truly glorious, and so are the accompanying Jewish law. But by comparison to the life we are afforded being filled, empowered, and directed by God’s indwelling Holy Spirit, “the letter” has no glory at all. The Greek language uses a word to describe this new and higher ‘life’. The word is zoe. Its not just my spirit or soul anymore, but God’s Spirit too.
Do I realize that the maker of the universe has taken up residence within me? Do I expect the power of God to manifest? What glory there is!
Oh God, what an amazing truth, often I have not appreciated or I have let the working of Your Spirit fade to the background. Today, shine in me. Lead and guide me, and may the power that raised Jesus from the dead, be evident in me.
