Works Good

But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7

Every believer is reminded that God saved us on the basis of His own goodness, mercy and grace. In response we are to do good works. What a beautiful picture of God’s saving work we have here in Titus. Look at the progression and expression of God’s love: mercy, washing by His indwelling Spirit, activated by the Saviour Himself, justified before God by grace and included as heirs with an eye toward eternal life with Him. Amazing.

Am I moving forward in God’s wonderful salvation as described in this Bible passage. Oh yes! And are my good works (assuming I have good works) motivated from the inside out, in response to Him? Almost all the time. Oh how good your plan works!

Oh Lord, what a life you have called me to. You saved me and have included me in Your great work in the world today. May I be used today to share your love and message with someone today. Amen.
