For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined manner among you, nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you; not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example. 2 Thessalonians 3:8-9
Ministry is work. Paul’s zeal for the spread of the gospel was evident to the Thessalonians. I love how he didn’t take advantage of his calling and role as an apostle to claim his righful salary as a minister of the gospel, but rather worked a second job. So, his admonishment to the brothers in Thessalonica had power because of his own example.
How is my example? I have a desire for the gospel to be shared. I have a good work ethic. Hopefully my life is a model for others to follow.
Today, Lord Jesus may You shine in a great way through me. Give me the energy and power to do You will, to lead men by example. May I be able to say as Paul did, follow me as I follow Jesus Christ. I love you Lord.
