Woe is Me

EutychusAnd there was a young man named Eutychus sitting [e]on the window sill, sinking into a deep sleep; and as Paul kept on talking, he was overcome by sleep and fell down from the third floor and was picked up dead. Acts 20:9

Paul wanted to share so much of God’s word with the believers and disciples in Troas, that his message went well into the night. Sadly, Eutychus fell asleep and fell off a ledge. But, Paul revived him back from the dead. Amazing. Of course, what did Paul do then? Call it a night? No way, he went upstairs, broke bread and shared till morning. Sharing the Word of God is such a high priority to believers because once we are gone, that is what will support, instruct and propel other believers. Paul wrote “woe is me if I do not preach the gospel”. I understand that feeling.

How big of a priority is the Word of God in my life? It is my guide for life. But, how is my appetite for the Bible? I love the Word, but must confess that TV and entertainment encroach on my time with God and His Word.

Lord, what a joy to read and spend precious time reading how You worked in the lives of people. And realizing that You are at work in my life today. Do miracles in me, around me and through me today. I am Yours. May Your Word dwell richly in me.
