Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man with a measuring line in his hand. So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is.” And behold, the angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him, and said to him, “Run, speak to that young man, saying, ‘Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the multitude of men and cattle within it. For I,’ declares the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.” Zechariah 2:1-5
What a vision of Jerusalem that God gave Zechariah… a city without walls! How incredible it must have been to see in his mind’s eye that his beloved city would be filled with the glory of God Himself. This is a picture of the reality we have in Christ who indwells believers. We are that city without walls. We have no need to defend ourselves, for the Lord is our wall of fire.
God, do I live in this wonderful safety? Do I shine with Your glory? Oh that I might.
Today, Lord Jesus lead and guide me in every decision and every interaction with other people. May Your glory be in my midst.
