Wisdom Is Better Than Weapons Of War

The wisdom of the top dog is sometimes considered more valuable than someone of lower position, regardless of the merit. This is life. I love the phrase- “its amazing what can be accomplished when we don’t care who gets the credit”. Ever feel resentful because “your” idea didn’t get implemented, but rather someone else’s did? Ever go unnoticed or unrewarded for your genius? Don’t sweat it. Me too. God didn’t miss it. And he will not be a debtor to any man. Sometimes everything good that has been built can be destroyed by ‘one sinner’. Hold on! Don’t start thinking political. I did. Solomon saw all of this happen in his day and he noted it. Remember what he says in the end, “wisdom is better than weapons of war”! Treasure the God-given wisdom you possess and live life with joy!

There was a small city with few men in it and a great king came to it, surrounded it and constructed large siegeworks against it. But there was found in it a poor wise man and he delivered the city by his wisdom. Yet no one remembered that poor man. So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised and his words are not heeded. The words of the wise heard in quietness are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. Ecclesiastes 9:14-18 NASB

What wisdom has God given to me? Have I thanked Him? Am I OK when I don’t get credit for building some aspect of God’s Kingdom?

God, as this day begins- What an opportunity to walk in wisdom, share it with others and see Your will be done, Your kingdom come. Train me to not seek out praise from men. Remind me that I truly have not had an original thought apart from You. Now, as I think about my grandchildren- Kennedy bear, Carter (Cartee), and Avery, my heart is full. I can’t wait to see them, talk to them, listen to their perception of the world and love them as You do. Help me lead them safely into a relationship with You.
