Wind In My Face

wind in my faceBut among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.
Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Ephesians 5:3-5

The winds of the world blow toward hell, the man walking the opposite direction will not have the wind at his back but rather in his face. “Our desire is to be accepted, to blend in. Yet to walk with Christ means to stay at His side and inevitably that will mean facing the cold and bitter wind.” AW Tozer
I marvel at quickly modern society has moved from even a semblance of godliness to the place where we applaud and parade everything contrary. The world is lost and sadly the pressures to conform to the world on the follower of Christ are immense. The consequences of conformity are eternal. The power to be new, born-again, and holy, remain as always with God and the transforming power of His Spirit abiding in us. The pay-off is the presence of God now and to be a co-heir with Christ of all God possesses in the next life.

How do I rid my mind of sexual immorality, impurity, idolatry and greed? Do obscenities, foolish talk, foul language, and joking find their way into my communication?

God, the inheritance I am seeking is to be in Your house forever. I want the things You desire. I confess that I struggle to live unstained from worldly influences and not have them affect my thinking and passions. But, I am resolved to face heaven, to walk in love, and to endure the wind in my face.
