Who Let the Dogs Out?

Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision; for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh. Philippians 3:2-3

In an effort to be right before God, some Jews in the first century were clinging to their pedigree (no pun intended). They thought their birth right and lineage to Abraham and their subsequent circumcision put them in a special and right relationship with God. Although they held a very special place in God’s plan, they missed the salvation that comes from Jesus Christ.

Do I ever get drawn away from the simple salvation that is found in knowing Him and being forgiven of my sins by Jesus sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection? I think I can get caught up in external expressions of spirituality as much as the next person… even comparing myself to others.

Oh Lord help me look only to You. You are my source and my goal. Forgive me for putting any confidence in the flesh, how useless an exercise it is for me. Today, may I walk in ways pleasing to You. Do miracles in me and around me and through me. Let me be a blessing to those I know.
