Who Goes to Heaven?

For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little. Then He said to her, “Your sins have been forgiven. Those who were reclining at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this man who even forgives sins?” And He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” Luke 7:47-50

My buddy Dale often says “good people don’t go to heaven, forgiven people do”! The more I understand the magnitude of the forgiveness of God, the greater my love is for Him. Some feel as if they have been forgiven minor trespasses and as a result have a cursory love for their Savior. Others, with tears upon His feet, wipe them with their own hair. What a contrast. Ironically, the same result. The wages of sin is death for both.

How has my understanding grown of the greatness of God’s forgiveness. More and more every day. When I sing the song “I’ll never know how much it cost, to see my sin upon that cross”, I can barely hold the emotions in.

Jesus, my heart is soft and my appreciation great. May my life today, reflect the love I have for You and the understanding of Your great forgiveness for me.
