Who Can Serve God?

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor.
Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:12-14
One of the great joys of my life is serving God in accordance with the spiritual gifts He has given. I often say, its a privilege to serve for a season of life on the staff of a Christian church and school. Its a wonderful calling to be a pastor teacher. In his letter to Timothy, Paul reminded his younger friend of how Paul was placed into service. Paul understood that his calling was based on God’s mercy and grace. King David, wrote about serving God in a song nearly 1000 years before in Psalm 15

O Lord, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?
He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness,
And speaks truth in his heart.
He does not slander with his tongue,
Nor does evil to his neighbor,
Nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But who honors those who fear the Lord;
He swears to his own hurt and does not change;
He does not put out his money at interest,
Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things will never be shaken.

How will I serve God today? Am I walking with integrity in my heart?
Lord Jesus, may I be one like Timothy who learns from You and others who faithfully serve You. There are many prayers to pray, people to encourage, and ministry to fulfill. Would you empower Holy Spirit and give me energy beyond my own to love people in Your name. What a privilege it is to serve You!
