Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord,
Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.
If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land;
But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.
Truly, the mouth of the Lord has spoken. Isaiah 1:18-20
God’s offer of cleansing, forgiveness and restoration to his people is amazing and applies today. In the midst of rebellion, the offer goes out. To simply consent and obey will result in the best of the land! Refusal and rebellion will lead to the opposite – destruction. God offers the same in Christ Jesus to any who hear the gospel. Its a great offer from a good God who loves us. I marvel at how far God’s people pushed him toward righteous judgment, and how it happens today as well.
Have I reasoned it out and decide to consent and obey? When were my sins turned from crimson to be like wool?
Lord, help us repent. May revival come to our city. Please draw every Christian to repentance and to obedience. Draw unbelievers into belief and this wonderful relationship awaiting them. Use me and those within our church to love them in Your name and grow them up into faithful followers.
