When You Come Down The Mountain

When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.
And a leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.”
And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
And Jesus *said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” Matthew 8:1-3

The sermon on the mount was the longest recorded teaching of Jesus. Large crowds followed Him down the mountain and saw an amazing miracle – the healing of leprosy with a mere question and touch! Then Jesus did something additionally kind. He turned the situation into an opportunity to build up the priests in their faith by reminding them God still does miracles. He sent the person cleansed to them to give an offering and a testimony.

Am I sharing the good things God is doing in my life with others? How concerned am I with building others up in their faith?

God, thank you for the faithful and faith-filled people who pray for me regularly, especially my wife. I feel carried along upon their prayers from miracle to miracle. Remind me to share the victories with them so they are again affirmed in their faith.

Continuing posts of resolutions of Jonathan Edwards: I frequently hear persons in old age say how they would live, if they were to live their lives over again: Resolved, that I will live just so as I can think I shall wish I had done, supposing I live to old age. July 8, 1723.
