Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray.
Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.
Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. James 5:13-15
God is available for every occasion of life. When we suffer, He invites us to seek him in prayer. When we are cheerful and happy, He will listen to our songs of joy. And when we get sick, He desires to hear from us. He even reminds us that when we are too weak to pray for ourselves, we can ask others to carry us to His throne and He will respond to the prayer of faith with healing, energy beyond our own, and forgiveness of sin and wrongdoing. Wow! When should I pray? On every occasion. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray continually!”
How’s my prayer life? Is there any occasion in life that is more difficult than others to draw close to God in prayer? Why is that when His invitation remains open?
God, I am reminded that I neglect You and the invitation You have given me. Thank you that You are long suffering and forgiving and willing to hear me, even when I call out at the eleventh hour.
