When Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by prophets.
Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.”
And his servants said to him, “Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at En-dor. 1 Samuel 28:6-7
King Saul was unsuccessfully seeking an answer from God about his ensuing battle with the Philistines. Sometimes that happens, we can’t hear from God. The answer comes from a surprising source… a Medium whom Saul had recently and rightly prohibited from practicing divination. Even she was surprised when Samuel delivers the answer to Saul, that his prior disobedience would now have its consequence… a divided kingdom. Wow! I wonder how often God is gracious to me, and in a final act of grace and righteousness allows the consequences of my sin?
What areas of my life need obedience and attentiveness?
Lord Jesus, my model in all things, I want to be obedient as You were on earth. Grow the desire in me to cherish the words “well done, good and faithful servant”. I don’t want to be like Saul who was partially obedient and tried to justify his half-hearted commitment and call it worship. Would you again show Your might and power today by showing Your favor and grace in the areas I have been praying about? You know my prayers… 50 in 50, rink, a hungry heart.
