When Evil Days Come

My son Keanu used to pray as a young boy, this prayer: “God, I pray today would be a good day, and every day a good day”. Simple. Direct. Cute. But, what about the bad and evil days? It seems that there are many of those in this season, doesn’t it? A Christian will stand out as distinct when evil days come if they are wearing the full armor of God. The apostle Paul uses the familiar Roman soldier’s attire and tools as an illustration of what protects a believer and advances the kingdom of God even during the bad and evil days. We must be centered in truth, so familiar with the gospel that we are ever prepared to share it and live it. We walk by faith, trusting in a God whom we cannot yet see, but fully confident of His reality. Our mind is at ease with the knowledge our sins have been forgiven. And, we have saturated ourselves in God’s Holy Word (the Bible) which demolishes every argument against God and reveals the difference between good and evil, right and wrong, truth and error.

Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:13-17 NASB

How immersed is my life in truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation and the Word of God?

God, as this day begins- “God, I pray today would be a good day, and every day a good day”. But, if evil comes, I will be girded as Roman soldier in spiritual armor ready to advance the kingdom of God.
