Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. Philippians 1:27-28
What should Christians do when mistreated because of our faith? The Apostle Paul and the believers in Philippi faced opposition and persecution that in some cases caused them to be imprisoned.
We are to be like Jesus and to say and do things consistent with the gospel. Paul told those in Philippi to stand firm in one Spirit, striving together without being frightened. Wow! A tall order. Yet, the way he conducted himself was a great model and encouragement. They could see that the ultimate victory was Christ’s.
How do I respond to criticism over my faith? When discounted in the public square, do I cower or stand firm?
God, as this day begins, may I be an encouragement to believers in Corona?! Prepare me now to endure hardship so that I might glorify Your Name by responding in kindness, truth, and love to those who would malign You and I as well. The gospel is glorious and has the power to save… help me walk in a way worthy of the very gospel that saved me.
