Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Hebrews 13:15-16
What pleases God? We ought to know and pursue His good will and pleasure. For in it, is our own good will and pleasure. Its easy to give God praise when we are on the sunny side of things. Its a sacrifice to do it when we are in pain or struggling. But, God doesn’t change only the circumstances do. The author of the letter to the Hebrews reminds us that God desires our lips to give thanks to His name. What logically follows is that our focus becomes ‘others’ centered and we are willing to do good and share. In all of this God is pleased.
Are the words of my lips pleasing to God? How have I been doing good works and sharing what I’ve been given me with others?
God, as this day begins- I thank You for Your goodness and love. I think I have one outstanding promise to fulfill. Help me carry it out with grace. Also, I pray my words will be seasoned with grace, filled with joy and praise for You and how You’ve saved me and changed me. Could that be contagious and affect others? I desire to please You. So, I will bring a sacrifice of praise, even where there is pain in my life.
