What became of the Baby in the Manger?

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face. John 19:1-3

If ever someone was born to die, it could be said of Jesus. Hard to imagine that the precious Son of God born of a virgin, laid in a manger, accompanied by an angelic host would come to this end. But it was by God’s design. Isaiah somehow saw it ahead of time and wrote: Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin. Isaiah 52:10

When I think of Christmas, do I remember that the reason for celebrating is more than the birth of a baby, its that Jesus the man paid the penalty for my sin on the cross? I do! The words “long lay the world in sin and error pining” is true.

God, may many this season find the man Christ Jesus as they gaze at the baby in the manger. I praise you with the heavenly host that realized on that day of Jesus birth, that everything was about to change for mankind. Let every heart prepare Him room. I open my heart to Him even more today than the first day I believed.
