What Are You Wearing?

I don’t pay much attention to fashion. If I had it my way, I would still be wearing what I wore in the 1970’s- blue jeans, white tee shirt, leather belt (with Aerosmith on it), and wallabee shoes. I know others take pride in looking good, being current with the latest trends, as you should. What’s far more important is that as Christians, we ‘put on Christ’ and clothe ourselves in Him and godly character. The apostle Paul says the law of God, holy as it is, was never able to really make us righteous. Our righteousness is imputed to us. We are clothed with the character of Jesus Christ because His Spirit dwells with in us. This kind of clothing never goes out of style.

But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the Law, being confined for the faith that was destined to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our guardian to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. For you are all sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Galatians 3:23-27 NASB

What aspects of being clothed in Christ are needed today?

God, as this day begins- I want to be found clothed and not naked. May the fullness of Christ dwell richly in my heart and as a result may I appear to others as He would. Let love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control define me today.
