What A Moment!

I have experienced some really great moments in life. Watching Bono of U2 sing ‘Where the Streets Have No Name”- live in concert, being on the court as my team wins a basketball game with a ‘buzzer beater’, seeing each of my children as they were born and came into the world. How about you, can you think of some really great moments? Those who traveled with Jesus up from Jericho to Jerusalem were part of a very special moment. It was His ‘triumphal entry’ as it is called. On the back of a colt, he rides without huge pomp and circumstance, but with him the people who saw His miracles rejoice. They reflect what few on earth know, but all of heaven understands- This is the King! I think our job on earth is much the same, reflecting what heaven knows, here on earth, moment after moment.

And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”  They said, “The Lord has need of it.”  And they brought it to Jesus, and they threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it.  Now as He was going, they were spreading their cloaks on the road.  And as soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, shouting:

“Blessed is the King, the One who comes in the name of the Lord;
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Luke 19:34-38 NASB

What moment’s lie ahead today for me to shout God’s goodness and to acknowledge that Jesus is the King of my life?

God, as this day begins- I will be with a family suffering loss. Help me be one who empathizes and sympathizes as I lead them through an unusual tribute to their loved one, while acknowledging before earth and heaven that love and life matter greatly. Give me just the right words to paint a desirable picture of heaven and life with You.
