Weighed Down?

I remember getting a shot in the doctors office. My doctor would squeeze my arm and say “its going to sting for a minute”. Ready? I like that he prepared me for what was to come. It still hurt, for awhile. But, the anxiety was lessened. I think many people are filled with anxiety (and rightly so), but could experience some relief if they’d known what was to come. While we all knew a worldwide pandemic was upon us, we really weren’t expecting the death of friends, unemployment, restrictive travel, schooling by video. These have taken a toll. When His disciples asked about the temple destruction in the first century, Jesus went to great lengths to explain what was to come… and that they could be ready, encouraged (not weighed down) and so they would endure.

“But be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap; for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth.  But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36 NASB

Who do I know that is struggling, anxious, weighed down? How could I share their burden and lift them up?

God, as this day begins- I am not unaware of the suffering of many. You’ve be gracious to me. Now, how can I buoy others up? I am thinking about so Greg, Tommy, Rudy and a handful of others who are really struggling. Would you use my communication today to lift the weight they are under?
