It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. 2 John 1:4-6
I loved listening to the Aerosmith song Walk This Way. And then when they performed live at the Superbowl halftime show with Run DNC, it was like everyone else suddenly realized how awesome Aerosmith was. I had great joy. John says he has great joy knowing that the people he led to the Lord are walking in the truth. He connects walking in the truth to keeping Jesus’ command to love one another. We love one another by walking in obedience to ‘his commands’. His commands are truth. So walking in the truth, love and obedience to His commands are all tied together.
How’s my walk? Am I living my life with God’s truth, loving others, and obedience to his commands? Are the people that I have helped find Christ discovered that they are to walk this way?
God, living life with the example and teachings of Jesus ever before me as an example is the only way to live. Not only do I have joy myself, but when I see the difference You make in others lives (that I have had a small part in discipling) it gives me joy. I pray that today and tonight at Bible study, we would all discover more of You and Your ways.
