Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me in the shadow of Your wings;
As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness;
I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake. Psalm 17:8,15
David saw God’s protection as both temporary and eternal. While many look to the cares of this life only, a man after God’s own heart thinks about who he is in eternity. The psalmist wrote “I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake”. He anticipated that in every way he would be “complete” before Christ when he awoke from death and was in the presence of God.
What a powerful and sobering reminder to me that the goal of my life is Christ-likeness. That means that my goal is to be more and more like Him.
God, today is another day of transformation. Please cleanse me of all sin and lead me in the way everlasting!
