Victory over the World

nikeThese things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

The word Nike means to take a victory or overcome! Jesus said he had victory (nikao) over the world. Jesus described the persecution and tribulation awaiting the disciples. He let them know that He would send the Holy Spirit to comfort and carry them through. And finally, he told them after He went away (died), He would come back to them. What amazing promises! He wrapped up with the admonition to “take courage”… have a positive expectation of the outcome.

Am I living my life in a courageous way? Or am I timid on intimidated by anything or anyone in the world? Have I realized that Jesus has overcome and with Him I will too? Yes, No, and Yes! I feel as if God will give me victory in this world. I see His miracles happening all around. So, I am rather confident and positive in attitude.

God, Did Jesus smile often? I bet He did. Today, I am starting with these promises for my life, expecting victory upon victory. Please be real and present with me today. And since its Kaenan’s graduation day, please make it special for him. I love you.
