Vicarious Atonement means Jesus Died for Me

VicariousAfter saying above, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second. By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:8-10

The substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross is the fulfillment of what the sacrificial system never could do. Jesus sacrifice, once for all, satisfied the sin debt of all mankind. It was accomplished by Jesus living a perfect life according to the will of God, then becoming the substitute for me. This great doctrine is known as vicarious atonement.

Have I accepted and appropriated what Jesus has done for me into my life? Do I live with an overwhelming sense of freedom from the penalty and burden of sin? Yes. Have I responded by living a life worthy of the great sacrifice made on my behalf?

Lord, I am thinking about how you made a way for me to know You and have my many sins forgiven and it is amazing. May I walk in a manner worthy of all You have done, so I might be called by Your name – a Christian.
