If the people of the land, however, should ever disregard that man when he gives any of his offspring to Molech, so as not to put him to death, then I Myself will set My face against that man and against his family, and I will cut off from among their people both him and all those who play the harlot after him, by playing the harlot after Molech. Leviticus 20:4-5
The people of Israel were not to tolerate human sacrifice. Such an egregious sin that God Himself said he would “cut off” the offender if His people did not. Why? This like many sins goes at the very sovereignty of God.
How is my faithfulness to God? Do I in any way trust in Molech (exchanging familial relationship for prosperity), spiritist, mediums, etc.? I don’t think so. I want my source of insight, power, and love to be God Himself. But, its good to make a gut check too. Even playing the lottery would be sin for me.
Lord God, I do not want to play the harlot and leave our relationship for another. By the power of Your Word and Spirit help me remain faithful.
