But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.
But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching. Matthew 22:29-33
I make mistakes. The errors we make often come from two mistakes… not understanding scripture and underestimating the power of God. The religious leaders tried to trap Jesus in theological pitfalls. The Sadducee’s in particular wanted to promote their denial of the resurrection. They committed both mistakes! Jesus was an astonishing teacher because He knew both the scriptures and the power of God!
Do I know the Bible? What have I experienced in regards to the power of God?
Lord, You were faithful again yesterday. I pray today You will help me discern God’s will, be gracious to those I encounter and lead with wisdom. I do have a couple projects that need a nudge from You. Would You show Your affection and kindness today by moving on people’s hearts and minds to bring about Your will? Thanks for the people in my life.
