Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:9-11
John is transported in the spirit to God’s heavenly throne. There is colors and noise and a whirlwind of activity that is characterized as worship. It is punctuated with the laying of crowns before Him and the declaration from the twenty-four elders that God is worthy to receive glory and honor and power. I wonder who these elders are… who set the example in heaven (and apparently did on earth as well).
Am I living in such a way on earth that I could earn a heavenly crown?
God, today I anticipate difficulty and confusion and sorrow. Would you use me as an instrument of Your healing, truth and comfort?
