Two things I asked of You, Do not refuse me before I die:
Keep deception and lies far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches;
Feed me with the food that is my portion, that I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the LORD?”
Or that I not be in want and steal, and profane the name of my God. Proverbs 30:7-9
Agur realized there are two big traps in this life. Integrity and contentment are powerful weapons in our arsenal to help us live the life God desires. If we can ‘keep deception’ far away and avoid getting caught up pursuing riches, we will avoid many temptations.
How am I doing? Is my life filled with truth? Am I tempted by riches? I feel like God has insulated my life by placing me around wonderful people and He has provided all I need.
God, I truly feel blessed by the way You have generously worked in my life and family. I want to be over-flowing with truth and contentment. Help my heart stay pure in this way.
