Trust in Righteousness, Not Riches

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.
Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.
Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. Proverbs 11:25-28

God wants us to love one another. Generosity is one way to demonstrate love. And what goes around, tends to come around. If a person refuses to meet the practical needs of another (say, by hoarding grain and not selling it at market price), they will miss a blessing from the people they otherwise could sell to.

How about me, am I missing out on any blessings because I am stingy, greedy or hoarding? A bigger question: Am I trusting in riches instead of righteousness? I want to live my life trusting in God, not riches. Its amazing how the two keep crossing over.

Lord God, oh You have been so generous with me. You have entrusted me with great riches. I commit to using the wealth to be a blessing. I commit to avoid hoarding. I want to be blessed and be a blessing.
