The Lord has today declared you to be His people, a treasured possession, as He promised you, and that you should keep all His commandments; and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, for praise, fame, and honor; and that you shall be a consecrated people to the Lord your God, as He has spoken. Deuteronomy 26:18-19
I loved how my son Keanu used to pray when he was little. ‘God, I hope today is a good day and every day is a good day, amen’ The descendants of Abraham through Isaac were considered a special people, God’s own possession. Notice that it based on a promise. They would be heralded above all nations as long as they kept His commandments. In many respects, Christians enjoy the same privilege. We are His possession, moreover, we are His children who have been adopted into His family. We are His praise, declaring His fame and giving God honor. We are a consecrated people living first and foremost for Jesus Christ!
Do I see myself starting each day as a child of God? Do I recognize the privilege and live up to high calling?
God, I love praying that wonderful prayer ‘good morning God, this is Your day, I am your child, please show me Your way’. I am excited about what You have planned for me today Lord. Let’s get going.
