Three Pearls

Who hasn’t done foolish things in life? I have done many. I have put together a string of hours without sinning in word, thought and deed, only to be followed by stumbling and sin. Ughhh! I hate that. Ever talk behind someone’s back? Me? Far too often! In the midst of contrasting wisdom and folly, Solomon holds out three pearls of wisdom. He says that wisdom adds power to your life. So, with all your understanding, get wisdom. He reminds us that no one is perfect! Everyone sins. Finally, he shares a little insight- Everyone smack talks a bit. So, don’t penalize others for what they say about you behind your back. These beautiful pearls of wisdom can bring about significant degrees of happiness. They can reconcile relationships. They can lead to holiness. Let’s make them part of who we are!

Wisdom strengthens a wise man more than ten rulers who are in a city. Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins. Also, do not take seriously all words which are spoken, so that you will not hear your servant cursing you. For you also have realized that you likewise have many times cursed others. Ecclesiastes 7:19-22 NASB

How can I walk in wisdom today? Is there any sin or part of my life that does not please God? Who have I smack talked that deserves a direct conversation?

God, as this day begins- Its a great day to relax, reflect, do a few chores, prepare to preach tomorrow and to be close to You. Thank you for the pearls of wisdom offered by Solomon. Thank you that You are my Wisdom. In Jesus, lies all the wisdom necessary for me to live this life in a godly way. May the Spirit of God, rule my heart, mind, and soul today. I want to be as valuable and beautiful as a precious pearl.
