The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means. Matthew 8:1-3
The people who follow Jesus intrigue me. Take for instance Joanna. Her husband was the manager of Herod’s household. Jesus was not treated well from this Herod (Antipas), or his predecessor Herod the Great. Yet, here is Joanna following Jesus and supporting His ministry!
Am I one of those curious people following Jesus? Yes, I am. Am I supporting His ministry today? You bet!
Lord, what a joy it is to follow You. And what a joy to be counted among those who would support what You are doing in the world with what I have. Money well spent, and happily spent.
