The Way Of Righteousness

We have a growing problem these days- everyone does what is ‘right’ in their own eyes. People are confused about nearly every aspect of life. An entire generation has been taught there is no right or wrong. They are suffering for it. Doing what is right in God’s eyes is not easy, but always worth it. I have often said that ‘righteousness is its own reward’ and ‘there is a power in righteousness’. Solomon enumerated the blessings of righteousness in a collection of Proverbs (chapter 10 NIV). Let’s pursue the righteousness of God and may the blessing flow into our lives and through us to others.

Righteousness delivers from death v2. The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry v3. Blessings crown the head of the righteous v6. The name of the righteous is used in blessings v7. The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life v11. The wages of the righteous is life v16. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver v20. The lips of the righteous nourish many v21. What the righteous desire will be granted v24. The righteous stand firm forever v25. The prospect of the righteous is joy v28. The righteous will never be uprooted v30. From the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom v31. The lips of the righteous know what finds favor v32.

In what ways am I relying on my own wisdom or ways as opposed to walking in God’s righteousness?

God, as this day begins- I thank you that You have made a clear call to walk in righteousness. I am grateful for the example of Jesus who is perfectly righteous and imputes His righteousness to me. May I walk today in practical righteousness equal to the positional righteousness You have afforded me. I pause to pray for those who face health issues. Protect and heal them.
