Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.
So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith.
Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. Galatians 4:23-25
While the holy law of God serves a Divine purpose, it has always been faith that saves. Abraham’s believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness. Jesus walked the earth, preached the gospel, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death, rose for our justification. This, then revealed the full object of our faith in a clear, real, tangible way. The law was a guardian for man and mankind until we could put our faith in Jesus.
Do I realize how great a privilege it is to live on this side of history and to look back at God’s wonderful revealing of His Son?
God, thank you that is by faith, not works of the law that salvation comes. I praise You for Jesus, who He is and what He has done on my behalf. I put my full trust in Him. He is the new Guardian of my Soul and the Galaxy as well.
