The Privilege of Being Called A Christian

I am a christianMoses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself. Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ Exodus 19:2-6

Can you imagine how special Moses must have felt? To know the creator of heaven and earth wanted him and his people to be “His own possession”. Belonging to God is a powerful identity. With that relationship and identity came a purpose… to be priests (those who minister before God) and a holy (chosen and set apart for God’s glory to be known) nation.

Is this true of my life? Am I His? Is my identity first and foremost as a child of God, a follower of Jesus Christ, and a set apart person serving before God? Yes.

Lord, what a calling and identity I have in You. Thank you that I can call myself Christian (little follower of Christ). Jesus is my source and goal. And this I proudly claim by Your grace. May I shine and reveal Your glory today.
