But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 2 Timothy 3:2-5
There is a power to be found in righteousness. Paul gave sound advice to young pastor Timothy as he instructed him how to lead the church in Ephesus. He warned that a time would come (and I would argue has arrived) where ‘difficulty’ would characterize the season and would be the overarching experience of most people. We are dangerously close. All the symptoms are present.
Do I contribute to difficult times? Or am I a part of God’s sanctifying influence?
Lord, please help me grow out of these base and unattractive behaviors and attitudes. By the power of the Spirit of Jesus renew my mind daily and set my motivations on righteousness. I want to love God not pleasure, money or myself. I know that the life You offer is far better. I want to see the power of righteousness moving in my life!
