So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; and have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and commission him in their sight. You shall put some of your authority on him, in order that all the congregation of the sons of Israel may obey him. Number 27:18-20
Moses was passing the leadership of God’s people to Joshua. God chose Joshua. Moses might have chosen Aaron. Isn’t it true that God chooses who will succeed us? Too often we spend time worrying about who will lead after us, when God has the answer.
I have seen this to be true in my life as well. I have also seen many leaders try to decide who will follow them, only to be frustrated or worse yet, make a poor choice and suffer for it.
God, help me be aware of who you are raising up and to have insight into where you are placing me.
