Isaiah the prophet foretold of the suffering Messiah in such amazing detail its almost hard to believe. Not only did he define His purpose, but also the details of His life, death and resurrection. Perhaps that’s what intrigued and impressed the Ethiopian (described in Acts chapter 8) as he was riding in his chariot reading Isaiah 53 out loud. It was then that Philip “beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him”. In Isaiah 53 we see the suffering of God’s servant and that all this was God’s plan (the Lord was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief). This was perhaps the most incredible chariot ride ever. Although, that scene in the movie Ben Hur was pretty cool.
Do I know that God loves me so much, He was willing to let my sin penalty fall upon Jesus? How do I live in light of that love?
God, this really is the most amazing way to save the world from sin. And I thank you for Your great love expressed in Jesus Christ. As this day of worship begins, I pray that You will be central to my thoughts and that I am able to express heartfelt worship that please you.
