The Gaze Of The Soul

One of the most exciting aspects of becoming a Christian is that our lives continue to change. We are not static. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would be with us and in us. He (The Holy Spirit) leads and guides and is not content with the person we were, so He is transforming our thinking and emotions to that of Jesus Christ. As we look upon Jesus’ life, teaching, actions- His glory… we too then are little by little transformed into what we are looking upon. This is why the focus of our desires and attention are so important. We will become like that which we gaze upon. Idols are deadly and dumb. But, the soul that gazes upon Christ will transform that person from godly glory to even greater glory.

But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT

What is the gaze of my soul right now? How hungry am I to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ?

God, as this day begins- I am starting with thoughts of Jesus. I am remembering how He interacted with people, the words He spoke, the love He displayed. He was able to say ‘I always do the things that please the Father’. I pray today, I might do the same. Holy Spirit continue to transform my thoughts, emotions, and actions that accompany. I set the gaze of my soul heavenward today. Oh, and happy birthday to me. May my life be one that causes others to be glad.
